Vue d'ensemble

Description

GBU stands for Guided Bomb Unit—a family of precision-guided bombs used by U.S. Air Force and Navy. Each GBU pairs a conventional bomb body with a guidance kit (laser, GPS, or both) to hit targets with far greater accuracy than unguided bombs.
GBU-8/B (Paveway I) is a 1000-pound laser-guided bomb built around the Mk 84 general-purpose bomb. It uses a semi-active laser seeker; a designated aircraft shines a laser on the target, and the bomb homes to the reflected energy, guiding to impact. It requires continuous laser designation until impact and offers improved accuracy at standoff ranges.
The GBU-8 era was in the late 1960s–1990s and was progressively superseded by newer Paveway variants (e.g., GBU-12) and GPS-guided bombs (e.g., GBU-31/32).
GBU-8G isn’t a widely standard designation in public sources; it could be a misprint or a nonstandard variant. If you can share the context (military, gaming, or software), I can tailor the intro.

Package

GBU8G is a bridge rectifier packaged in a TO-220AB (through-hole) package.

Pinout

Pin count: 4 pins.
Function: Bridge rectifier (full-wave) with two AC inputs and + and − DC outputs.

Application

GBU8G is a glass-passivated bridge rectifier module. It converts AC to DC in low- to mid-power circuits. Typical applications include power supplies/adapters, battery chargers, DC motor drives, inverters/UPS, solar PV rectification, automotive and telecom equipment, and general AC-to-DC rectification in consumer and industrial electronics.

Equivalent

GBU8G is a glass-passivated bridge rectifier (8 A) in a through-hole package, rated around 600–800 V. Equivalents from other makers include Vishay GBU8S/GBU8M and Diodes Inc. DB8S/DB8M. Exact cross-references depend on the exact V_RRM and package, so share the voltage/current rating for precise substitutes.
